Images Presidency University and Team Mandobasar Galpo took part in a panel discussion named “Mon O Mandobasha”

On Friday evening, Presidency University hosted an interesting panel discussion on the topic “Mon O Mondobasha” with the team Mandobasar Galpo, a musical thriller to be released on 24th March 2017. The discussion threw light on the topic of various negative emotions that prevails in our daily lives and affects our well being like depression, bipolar disorder, loneliness and others. Psychologist and Psychoanalyst Jhuma Basak, who does her clinical practice in Crystal Minds and Woodlands Hospital was present in the panel to share her views on the same. Actors Parambrata Chatterjee, Indrasish Roy, Anindya Chatterjee, Director Tathagata Banerjee and Writer Sanjib Banerjee were present from the film Mandobasar Galpo. Upal ChakrabortyAssistant Professor, Sociology Department, Presidency University and Mr. Akash Jalan from Eylex Motion Pictures were also present among the panelists.

Images Ficci Ladies Organization Kolkata Chapter introduces their pan-India initiative “Flo Advocacy and Legal Cell”

With an objective to establish the rightful place for women in our society and to uphold the fact that Women should stand beside Women for empowerment, FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO) an exclusive women's wing of the prestigious national organization FICCI today launched the Kolkata Chapter of their pan-India initiative “Flo Advocacy and Legal Cell” in the esteemed presence of His Excellency Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal as the Chief Guest, Smt. Ruma Pal, Retired Justice of Supreme Court as the Guest of Honor and National Flo President Ms. Vinita Bimbhet. The three panelists for an interactive discussion were Ms. Vrinda Grover, Lawyer Human Rights and Women’s Rights Activist, Ms. Asha Nayar Basu, Lawyer Senior Partner at S Jalan & Co. and Ms. Anupama Sureka, Chairperson Flo Kolkata.

Images Credai Bengal and IIA WB Chapter capture the past and celebrate the present- ‘Connecting Histories’

CREDAI Bengal, state chapter of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI) and Indian Institute of Architects took the first-of-its-kind initiative “Connecting Histories”, a two-day architectural convention to be attended by more than 400 delegates, architects from both national and international forums, a distinguished panel of expert theoreticians and practitioners along with architect students from various parts of India. The inaugural ceremony commenced in the esteemed presence of Chief Guest Janab Firhad Hakim, Minister for Urban Development & Municipal Affairs, Govt. of West Bengal, Mr. Nandu Belani, President, CredaiBengal, Ar. Tanmoy Bose and Veteran Indian Classical Singer Pt. Vijay Kichlu. After that the evening witnessed a mesmerizing performance of Dr. L Subramaniam supported by Pt. Tanmoy Bose.

On Tuesday afternoon, Eylex Motion Pictures launched the trailer and music of their maiden production " Mandobasar Galpo ”. The lead cast members of the film namely Parambrata Chatterjee, the very talented Paoli Dam, Indrasish Roy, Anindya Chatterjee, Popular Singer Rupankar Bagchi along with the Director Tathagata Banerjee graced the occasion with their esteemed presence. Debutant Producer duo Mr. Akash Jalan and Mr. Vickash Chowdhury of Eylex Motion Pictures were present to address the media.

Images Oxford Junior Literary Festival – a 2 young reader’s festival

The first edition of Oxford Junior Literary Festival (OJLF), a two day literary festival (15th and 16th January) for young readers which was a part of 4-dayApeejay Kolkata Literary Festival 2017. Inaugurated with a musical performance by chief guests – 350 children – from Future Hope NGO and from several shelters outside Kolkata. OJLF created Fun with Chinese Opera – a Chinese Opera mask making by Susanna GohoQuek – a writer, illustrator, artist, and an art curator ; hosted Monsters, Songsters and Much Such Madness with Anushka Ravishankar, popular children’s writer and Unhappy Moon, a story telling session about a playful moon by author Saraswathi Menon and illustrator Proiti Roy . In Our Own Voice – a creative presentation by Future Hope students ; In My Head, the craft of the monologue ; Starting Up: New Writers for Young Readers with Arya Rajam and Shubhra Shah Agarwal where students interacted with young writers and Being the Change wherein Young writer-activist Yassmin Abdel-Magied and Youth ki Awaaz pioneer Anshul Tewari discussed the challenges and dreams with students were hosted by OJLF including a dramatized reading of The Why Why Girl who never stops asking questions, as a tribute to Mahasweta Devi.

Images Behala Classical Festival” in its Fifth Edition

Music is the social act of communication among people, a gesture of friendship, the strongest there is, and so was the call of “Behala Classical Festival” which stepped in its fifth edition this year, organized by #BehalaSanskritikSammilani and presented by Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers. The season five of the classical festival that pays tribute to Pt. Ravi Shankar, would be held from 7th January to 10th January 2017, at the Behala Blind School Ground, Kolkata. The festival was inaugurated by Shri Sovan Chattopadhyay, Hon’ble Mayor, Kolkata Municipal Corporation and Shri Debasish Kumar, Member, Mayor-In-Council in the august presence of the doyens of Indian Classical Music, Sitar Maestro Anupama Bhagwat and Tabla Maestro Pt. Swapan Choudhuri. The evening also witnessed the felicitation of Master singer of Bengali Songs, Bhajans and a top Indian radio and television artist, Pt. Arun Bhaduri for his immense contribution to Indian Classical Music.

Images Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival Inauguration

Apeejay Surrendra Group and Oxford Bookstores announced the eighth edition of Apeejay Kolkata Literary Festival on 6th January, 2017. It is India’s only literary festival created by a Bookstore and Kolkata’s first literary festival to be held from 15th to 18th January 2017.
